Welcome to IFMEAL! This Privacy Policy explains how BurhanRaza ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the IFMEAL mobile application (the "App"). Your privacy is a top priority for us, and IFMEAL is designed from the ground up to be a privacy-first application.
Our Privacy Philosophy: Local First
IFMEAL operates on a "local-first" principle. All data you create and store within IFMEAL, including your meal photos and any associated notes or tags, resides exclusively on your device. We do not have access to this data, it is not transmitted to our servers, and it is not shared with any third parties by us.
Information We Handle (Locally)
IFMEAL allows you to log your meals. The information handled by the App is stored locally on your device and includes:
- Meal Photos: Images of meals you capture using the App. These are stored as files directly on your device using iOS FileManager within the App's sandboxed directory.
- Meal Metadata:
- ID: A unique identifier (UUID) for each meal entry.
- Photo Path: The local file path to the corresponding meal photo.
- Timestamp: The date and time when a meal is logged (auto-generated).
- Tag: A category you assign to the meal (e.g., breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack).
- Note: Optional text notes you may add to a meal entry.
- App Settings & Preferences: Any preferences you set within the App, such as theme choice or reminder settings, are also stored locally.
We do not collect or request any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, location, or contacts for the functioning of the App.
How Your Information is Used (Locally by the App)
The information stored by IFMEAL is used solely to provide the App's features and functionality to you on your device. This includes:
- Displaying your meal history, including photos, tags, notes, and timestamps.
- Allowing you to filter and search your meal logs.
- Generating insights based on your logged meals (e.g., meal frequency, common tags) if this feature is enabled. These calculations also happen on-device.
- Enabling app features like reminders or theme selection.
Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Local Storage: As stated, all your data is stored locally within the App's secure sandbox provided by the iOS operating system. Meal photos are stored via `FileManager`, and metadata via `Core Data`.
- Biometric Lock: IFMEAL offers an optional security feature to lock the App using Face ID or Touch ID, leveraging Apple's `LocalAuthentication` framework. If you enable this, biometric authentication is required to open the App, adding an extra layer of protection to your locally stored data.
- Data Retention & Deletion: You are in full control of your data.
- You can delete individual meal entries at any time from within the App. This action removes both the photo and its associated metadata from your device.
- A "Clear All Data" option is available in the App's settings, allowing you to delete all logged meals and associated data permanently from your device. This action is irreversible.
Data Sharing and Third-Party Access
IFMEAL does not share your personal data with any third parties. We do not use any third-party analytics services that would transmit your data off your device. The App does not include advertisements.
Export Functionality: IFMEAL may offer an optional feature to export your meal logs (e.g., as a CSV or PDF). This export is created locally on your device. If you choose to use this feature, you are in control of where the exported file is saved or shared (e.g., via the iOS share sheet to your email, cloud storage, or other apps). We do not automatically transmit this data anywhere.
App Permissions
To provide its functionality, IFMEAL may request the following permissions:
- Camera Access: Required to allow you to take photos of your meals directly within the App. If you deny this permission, you may not be able to use the photo logging feature, but other app functions (if any) will remain available. We show a permission rationale before the system prompt.
- Notifications: Optional, used only if you enable daily reminders to log your meals. You can use the App without granting this permission.
- Face ID / Touch ID: Optional, requested only if you choose to enable the biometric lock feature in settings.
We only request permissions necessary for specific features, and the App is designed to respect your choices if permissions are denied, offering graceful degradation of functionality where applicable.
Children's Privacy
IFMEAL is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information (which is unlikely given the App's local-only design), we will take steps to delete such information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page within the App and/or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
